Santa 2 PNG

The first element we bought for our new house in 2008 was and Santa and Reindeer blow mold. We bought it from Menards for around $100. We brought it home and immediately put in on the r0of. It has been a part of our display ever since.

When our display debuted in 2011, Santa was there again. While testing, one of our neighbors came over and offered some constructive criticism for the display. Now, I am not someone who takes criticism well. When someone comments about my work, it eats at me until I fix it. So when our neighbor said the Santa looks a small on the roof, I immediately went to work.

The next day I went to Menards and bought another reindeer and some lumber. I built a frame that would elevate Santa and both reindeer so it looks like they are taking off. I also replaced the reins with a strand of lights, and installed a red lightbulb in the front reindeer’s nose. The three lightbulbs inside the blow molds and the “Rudolf” nose are the only incandescent lights in the display.

Santa will always be apart of our display, he holds a special place in our hearts. His future looks brighter though, before long he will have seven more reindeer to join him. If I ever figure out how to do it, I will will rig the sleigh and reindeer so they actually fly. That may take a few years though.

Be sure to stop by each year to see the improvements we have made to this important display element.
